I was passed along a compliment through one of my project managers today from a client:
"BTW, Ina is doing a fine job. She’s been able to roll with the typical <company name> punches without losing her mind…so far."
I guess that's a compliment...as crazy as these last two weeks at work have been, I'll take anything at this point!!

Wii are having a good time
The Wii has gotten some attention the last two nights as we've started figuring things out. DH also bought Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 when he got the console, so it's been fun learning out how to play all the little games on it. My cousin is looking forward to our family wedding (another cousin)/reunion in Seattle this summer so that we can all play together again. Plus now we have two more "wiimotes" (as she calls them) and nunchucks, so we can have 4 players. She also has a bunch of games, so maybe we can try them out and decide which ones we might consider getting. Anyone have a game they really love? Anyone want to borrow our Raving Rabbids 2? The cat has been very confused by our jumping and swinging about in the middle of the living room. He does not get what we are so excited about. So he just runs across the floor and attacks my feet at random while I am playing tennis, bowling, etc... Too bad we can't attach a wiimote to him and get extra points in the dancing rabbids game...

Wii are in business!
After many weekends of scouring the Sunday paper early in the morning, I am pleased to say that "Operation French Affirmative" was finally accomplished this morning! Wii already have the Wii all set up, and oui, it is fun!

Getting close to Oscar time!
Well, once again DH and I are trying to catch as many of the Oscar hopefuls as we can, but we never get to them all. We saw the nominated animated shorts last weekend, and In Bruges last night. I liked both. My friend Val hosts an Oscars-watching party every year, which includes a contest to see who can guess the most winners on the ballot. Her prizes are fun. DH won one year and got "Darth Tater." :) Actually watching all the movies does help... Anyway, looking forward to the party tomorrow night, and maybe not actually working tomorrow, which will be a first in the last few weeks.

Happy Friday
I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day! I am glad this week is over, despite the fact that I will be working some this weekend due to my deadline next Wednesday, but it is nice and warm out for at least the next day, so I want to enjoy it. DH and I had a nice evening last night - light dinner at Figo V-H and a visit to the High Museum. The live music in the atrium was nice - Latin-type with salsa lessons - and the Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit was pretty good. Even more exciting are the terra cotta soldiers from China that will be coming in November! (Valentine graphics from Snapfish, thanks to Sis for the photo from New Year's Eve.)

Powder-less Puff Girl
Aveda has been out of my face powder due to ingredient-sourcing issues since November! I got on a notification list at an Aveda store -they told me at the time it would probably be in January. I went by another store while I was at the mall a few weekends ago just to check and now they are saying late Feb/early March! So I am getting pretty darn close to being a powder-less girl. Like I am dabbing at those little pieces of powder packed into the corners of the little square tin. I have used this powder since I got married, and I love it and was not looking to change anytime soon. But I might have to in order to maintain my beautiful self! (haha) :) If you see Aveda Inner Light Dual Foundation SPF12 in 03/Linen at your local salon or store, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! One of my coworker has been singing praises over using mineral powder, so maybe I'll try that out in the meantime... Suggestions welcome...

Long week
It has been an interesting and busy week. Where to start?
Super Fat Tuesday -we woke up early to go vote before work.
Wednesday, I decided I wanted to fast for Ash Wednesday, but to tailor to my crazy and long day that I knew I was going to have, I had a cup of yogurt and a boiled egg to start my day, with only water until after the Ash Wednesday service I attended at 6 pm. It was definitely a challenge for me, since I typically eat *something* every 4-5 hours to keep me going, but I certainly appreciated food a lot more at the end of the day.
Thursday was another long day - challenging days at work with half of our team currently working in the Middle East. Doing business with a group that is 9 hours ahead of you is very interesting. I also attended the memorial service for my coworker Steve at the chapel on Dobbins Air Base near my house. He was given military honors - a 9-gun salute to his days in the Air Force, and the service was very nice. He left the chapel to Three Dog Night's "Joy to the World" (Jeremiah was a bullfrog...), so you just had to smile at the end. In that light, Wednesday was both somber and celebratory, being that it was Chinese New Year. DH and I did meet some friends for a good Chinese dinner at Canton Cooks, so that was nice.
Friday night I attended the Atlanta Opera's "Cold Sassy Tree" with my friend Cyndi. Her usual pal who she got a subscription with could not go. It was my first time in the new Cobb Energy Center, which is AO's new home this year. It was very nice on the inside. Hoping to maybe get tickets to see "The Marriage of Figaro" which will be near my birthday, so it was good to be able to scope out the seating and see where we might want to sit for that.
And today I got to sleep in for the first time this week, aside from getting up briefly at 7:30 AM to feed my pestering cat, so I thoroughly savored that. Made some butternut-potato-leek soup and now going to work for just a few hours. Hope to have tomorrow completely off and my SIL will be visiting from Charlotte.

Weekend Round-up
I did a little more this weekend than I thought I was going to heading into the weekend. Let's see...
Friday night, I went to dinner and bowling with some of my fellow Tau Beta Sigma alums (and 2 actives and 1 candidate). I actually bowled much better than I thought I would - 115 in the first game and 109 in the second. Usually I am really dragging in the second game and at best break 90, so I was happy with my game. I've been suffering some soreness in muscles I forgot existed the last two days, but at least I feel like I did a little exercise!
Saturday, I went with two girlfriends to the Intergalactic Bead and Gem Show at Gwinnett Center, which was fun, albeit crowded with crafty women a little more crazy about beading than me, but still interesting to see all the wares. I did make a few small purchases - some carved mother of pearl shell pendants, a few cool hollow Murano glass beads, some glass pendants with glass flowers inside, and a wooden hair pick with short rod with removable metal ball at the top so you can string on a few beads to match your outfit. Then we headed to a pre-Chinese New Year celebratory Dim Sum outing with 10 friends, which is always fun and very yummy. In fact, we called it "Yummy Yummy Dim Summy" this year in the Evite. Other than the restaurant giving away our 12-person table reservation before we got there, it was a grand time.
Sunday, we mostly hung around the house, cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and then watched the Super Bowl. I was cheering for the Giants, since there are 3 former Tech players on the team, and what do you know! They did okay!
I also started reading a book this weekend that all the Associates at work was given on Friday to read and take a test by the end of the month. It's called Now, Discover your Strengths, and it is supposed to help you find your themes of talents which will help develop your strengths. I am glad that management at work is actually proactively trying to help us Associates with career development! I finished through Chapter 3 and now I am supposed to take the online test before reading further. Maybe I'll post my results once I take the test.
And finally, I did find out Saturday morning that Steve passed out of this world on Friday evening. I continue to pray for his family, and they will be making arrangements for his memorial service tomorrow. He will be missed.

Looking forward to Chinese New Year
DH and I are meeting some friends for some pre-Chinese New Year Dim Sum tomorrow. I am looking forward to eating some good food! M&D are actually leaving for SanFran tomorrow, enroute to Hong Kong, for the New Year and my Grandma's 90th birthday party. Right now there are some crazy crowds in China, because everyone is trying to get on the trains to go home for the new year, and the snowstorms have created a lot of delays and chaos in general. I am hoping that they have a safe trip there.
I also planning to go by the Intergalactic Bead and Gem Show with two of my crafty girlfriends tomorrow. Hoping for some good finds, and Cyndi will be looking for ideas for her wedding tiara, so that should be fun.
Steve continues to be in critical condition. Please keep him and Dianne in your prayers.
